Why Biometric Registration is Essential for Char Dham Yatra?

Following the devastating Uttarakhand floods in 2013, the government faced significant criticism for its lack of preparedness in disaster management. It was challenging to gather information about the number of pilgrims stranded in the valley and to contact their families. To address these concerns, when the Char Dham Yatra resumed in 2014, the Uttarakhand government made biometric registration mandatory. This requirement allows the government to track pilgrim movement, gather important data, enhance security, and facilitate disaster mitigation efforts. If you’re planning to visit any of the temples in the Char Dham circuit, be sure to complete your Char Dham registration before beginning your journey.
